“I visited a town once with someone, and it was great and amazing–kids and dogs outside in the sun,” explains the Brooklyn-based Theophilus London. “‘Humdrum Town’ is about coming back to the town without that person and having the opposite experience. It’s gloomy, it’s dark in a humdrum kind of way.”
The track — an updated version of one off his previous ‘This Charming Mixtape’ — is released today as a free download on Green Label Sound (via the player above). It was recorded at Brooklyn’s Casa Nova studios, mixed by Alexander Aldi (Passion Pit, White Rabbits, Harlem Shakes) and mastered by Joe Lambert (Wyclef Jean, Animal Collective, Gang Gang Dance).
The music is based on a sample of Futurecop!’s N.A.S.A., which you can stream here:
