If you don’t know Local Natives by now, well get ready because you’re going to be hearing a lot about them in 2010. Buzzed about already with a great showing at CMJ, their debut LP Gorilla Manor is coming out on February 16th via Frenchkiss Records. The label, originally started by Les Savy Fav’s Syd Butler, is home to such rising acts as Passion Pit, The Antlers, The Dodos, Sean Bones as well as Les Savy Fav and The Hold Steady so you know they have an eye for talent.
The album cover is above and you can check out “Sunhands” below. I like the textured feel of the song, how the music is bubbling underneath while the vocals do the heavy lifting. The song is well balanced, delicately alternating between stateliness and urgency. The ending breakdown is a nice and cathartic staking of a claim.
