The HARD Summer Tour 2010 made its penultimate stop recently at New York’s Terminal 5, bringing headliners Crystal Castles and DJs Sinden, Destructo and JDH & Dave P.
Crystal Castles had the whole room jumping and dancing, an unusual feat for a Terminal 5 headliner. Vocalist Alice Glass proved her ninja-like crowd-surfing abilities, using the standing-room crowd as a makeshift stage as she repeatedly rolled around, kicked, smoked and sung all while being held up by the hands of her fans.
We can only assume that one concert-goer touched her the wrong way, after we witnessed her apparently landing multiple punches on someone up front, near the stage. (It wouldn’t be the first time this has happened.) Check out the video of this incident, plus four of her crowd-surfing ventures, below.
NOTE: Youtube mangled our videos. We’ll get a clear copy up asap.
While Glass wasn’t always so audible (partly due to the various effects that her counterpart, producer Ethan Kath, uses on her voice) the duo, who brought a touring drummer along, put on an engaging, high-energy show. Check out our clip of fan-favorite “Celestica” off the band’s most recent album, Crystal Castles, below.

Earlier in the night, JDH & Dave P kicked things off. They’re a couple of the busiest DJs in New York, who founded the FIXED party that’s hosted a wide array of top electronic DJs and performers and has just launched a mix album series. Simian Mobile Disco Is FIXED is the first installment.
Destructo kicked things up a notch with a nice mix of crazy ravey electro and classic and/or soulful house.
But it was Sinden who brought the entire crowd over into dancing mode, with a much more consistently funky, fun and upbeat set. After an intro track, he offered a killer unreleased Jack Beats remix of Big Boi’s “Shutterbug” which hyped up the crowd and got them ready for what was to come. “Yo New York,” he said, part-way through his set. “Let’s get nasty right now! Who’s with me?!!!”
