Coachella announced “Next Week” cryptically on Twitter last Friday, January 6. Luckily we only had to wait until January 9 to have the full Coachell lineup.
The Black Keys, Radiohead and Dr. Dre with Snoop Dogg will be headlining the newly expanded two weekend festival. The Black Keys will headline Friday, Radiohead on Saturday, Dre and Snoop on Sunday.
Coachella will run from April 13 – 15 and April 20 – 22. All bands will play both weekends.
In addition to that fun, Coachella will bring Swedish House Mafia, Pulp, the just reunited At the Drive-In, Bon Iver, Miike Snow, Arctic Monkeys, Refused, Mazzy Star, The Shins, David Guetta, Justice, Florence and the Machine, Avicii,Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds and Kaskade to Indio as sub-headliners.
Other noteworthy acts include Jeff Mangum, M83, Explosions in the Sky, The Weeknd, Beirut, La Roux, The Hives, Girl Talk, DJ Shadow, Feist, Cat Power, St. Vincent, Godspeed! You Black Emperor and Andrew Bird.
It seems like there is something for everyone here. As you keep digging there is plenty of gold to be found. Electronic acts are well covered with the aforementioned SHM, Justice et al as well as Neon Indian, SebAstian, Dragonette, Martin Solveig, Calvin Harris, Dada Life, SBTRKT and plenty more.
Coachella has always featured plenty of UK acts and 2012 is no exception. The Horrors, The Big Pink, Kasabian, The Vaccines, Metronomy, Band of Skulls, Wild Beasts, Kaiser Chiefs, Fanfarlo and Squeeze join fellow acts Radiohead and Florence and the Machine.
I’m excited to see such depth, acts like Santigold will be fun to catch as would Wild Flag, Jimmy Cliff, Destroyer, Wu Lyf, araabMUZIK, Fitz and the Tantrums, Black Lips, tUnE-yArDs, Childish Gambino, Neon Indian, Yuck and Atari Teenage Riot.
So does Coachella 2012 live up to years past? Full artist lineup after the jump.
