UltraÃsta features some fantastic talent including longtime Radiohead engineer and producer Nigel Godrich, singer Laura Bettinson, and Joey Waronker, who had been R.E.M’s drummer since 1998 and also drummed for Atoms for Peace, Beck, The Smashing Pumpkins and Elliot Smith.
The band was “founded in London in 2011 on a mutual love of Afrobeat, electronic and dance music, visual art, and tequila.”
UltraÃsta’s self-titled debut will be out on October 2 but to get you in the mood, the band has just released “Bad Insect.” Unsurprisingly, it features some great depth and rich musical layers that many fans of Radiohead will appreciate. Check it out below. The rest of the album promises some more “exquistely crafted electronic kraut-pop.”
