“Waiting For The Bee-Train” by Tom
Halloween is right around the corner and we’ve got you covered for some of the best shows in the city.
First we’re kicking off the party midweek with the man, the legend, the one behind the “Oh Yes Oh Yes” catchphrase, Carl Cox. The house legend takes over Output in Brooklyn on Wednesday, Oct 29, for a sold-out party dubbed “Carl Cox All Night Long.” Doors at 9 p.m. If you can’t make it be sure to check back here later this week as we’ll provide coverage.
Thursday brings a massive, sold-out Hip Hop bill to Barclay’s Center — a Power 105.1 event featuring J. Cole, Ne-Yo, Jeezy, T.I., Childish Gambino, French Montana and more. Some resale tickets available here.
Next on our radar is another legendary house act, Deep Dish. The duo of Sharam and Dubfire are playing an open-to-close set Halloween night (Friday) at the newly opened Space Ibiza New York. The duo reunited earlier in the year and dropped the massive track “Quincy” on us. It should be an incredible night. Very limited tickets are available so if you want to experience the grammy winning house legends in action get them here.
And while you’re waiting for Friday have a listen to Deep Dish’s return to the Essential Mix:
Also on Friday, October 31 you can catch several bands performing “as” Nirvana, Meat Puppets, Television, Devo, and more. (For details see CakeShopCalender.tumblr.com.) Meanwhile, the actual Meat Puppets will be playing Rough Trade with Cass McCombs (tickets here). Another group of (costumed?) bands will be covering the Chili Peppers, Weezer, Pixies and Hole at Silent Barn.
Finally, on Saturday, we’re starting off November with the Glitch Mob’s return to New York. The show is being dubbed “Dia de Los Muertos 2014” and is taking place at Hammerstein Ballroom on Saturday November 1st. The trio is supported by Chrome Sparks and The M Machine. Get your tickets here.
