Catalpa NYC will be taking place on July 28 and 29 at Randall’s Island in New York. The inaugural festival will feature The Black Keys, Snoop Dogg and plenty more acts.

The Black Keys – The Only One

The Black Keys and Snoop Dogg will be joined by TV on the Radio, Umphrey’s McGee, Felix Da Housecat, The Big Pink, AraabMUZIK, City and Colour and Fort Atlantic. Several artists have yet to be announced.

In addition to music, Catalpa will bring plenty of entertainment to Randall’s Island. Expect bumper cars, art installations, a marriage tent to get legally hitched, a silent disco stage, a reggae stage and a plethora of food options form some of the best places in New York. In addition to that expect to see Arcadia Spectacular, a structure named “The Afterburner” which will shoot 30 foot tall flames in the air and will have a DJ manning the decks from inside the metal structure.

Early bird tickets start at $99.99. Once they are sold out, tickets go up to $139.99 and after that up to $179.99. There are also ferry passes for $35, shuttle passes for $20 and parking for $50. The Guggenheim will host Divine Ricochet, a three-part music series that will feature Cold Cave, Zola Jesus and Grouper with Julianna Barwick. The music events will run alongside the John Chamberlain: Choices retrospective.

Cold Cave – Icons Of Summer

The series will kick off on April 13 with Grouper and Julianna Barwick. Cold Cave will play on April 27 and Zola Jesus will close out the series on May 10. Grouper will be playing a site-specific set titled Violet Replacement and will include ambient sounds incorporating tape loops that will bounce off the unique structure of the Guggenheim. Cold Cave and Zola Jesus will not play site-specific sets sticking to a more traditional live performance.

Tickets for Grouper goes on sale March 20 for Guggenheim members and March 21 for non-members. Cold Cave tickets will be on sale April 3 for members and April 4th for the general public. Zola Jesus tickets will be on sale April 17 for members and open to the public on April 18. Tickets for all performances will be $22 for members and $27 or non-members. Doors are at 8:30pm and performance begin at 10pm. Those in attendance can walk around and check out the Chamberlain retrospective.

TheMusic.FM was at the Guggenheim music series that brought Julian Plenti and Yeasayer to the museum. It was an interesting experience that mixed art and music beautifully.

Miike Snow just announced a small show at the Music Hall of Williamsburg, preceding the band’s three sold-out shows at the much-larger Terminal 5. The Terminal 5 ticket-holders will get the first shot at 400 tickets to the MHoW show starting tomorrow at 9 a.m (here). Another 100 tickets will go on general sale at noon (here). Electronic music producer/musician Jacques Lu Cont will open the night.

The band has also added two LA dates to their schedule — April 17 and April 18 — which fall between their two weekend Coachella performances. (All dates are listed below.)

Delta Spirit are releasing a new album and are celebrating in the best way possible.

On February 25, Delta Spirit will be hitting three Williamsburg bars in support of their self-titled third album. Beginning at 2pm at Manhattan Inn, all fans are welcome to join Delta Spirit in drinking and listening to songs from Delta Spirit. This will continue at two other bars before Delta Spirit play a tiny and invite-only show at Public Assembly. Fans can RSVP via Facebook and winners will be notified with more information. Delta Spirit – California

Delta Sprit will be released on March 13, 2012 via Rounder Records. The third studio album promises plenty of energy that fans have grown to love from Delta Spirit as well as some new wrinkles and instruments. Check out the teaser video for “Empty House” above.

Delta Spirit will be playing a whole mess of dates starting at SXSW. The headlining tour includes a show at Webster Hall on March 29. All dates are below.

The inaugural Governors Ball was a massive hit. Featuring Girl Talk, Pretty Lights, Empire of the Sun, Big Boi, Neon Indian, Das Racist, Miami Horror and Mac Miller to name a few, the one day festival with no overlapping sets was a great summer addition. The Governors Ball is back, moving to the larger Randall’s Island and featuring a fantastic lineup.

Duck Sauce – Big Bad Wolf

Governors Ball has expanded to two days and will take place on June 23rd and 24th. On June 23rd, Passion Pit will headline The Governors ball and will be supported by Duck Sauce, Chromeo, Special Disco Version, Atmosphere, Major Lazer, Santigold, Big Gigantic, Penguin Prison, Walk the Moon, Art Vs. Science, K. Flay and Nobody Beats the Drum.

On June 24th, Beck will headline The Governors Ball and will feature Modest Mouse, Explosions in the Sky, Devandra Banhart, Cage the Elephant, Built to Spill, Cults, Phantogram, Freelance Whales, Alberta Cross, The Jezabels and Turf War. Another band has yet to be announced for June 24th.

Tickets go on pre-sale beginning on Wednesday February 22nd through Living Social and will include a Two Day Pass, a Ferry Pass and a $10 redeemable voucher for merchandise. Two day passes start at $160 and will be bumped up to $180 after the advance tickets sell out. The Governors Ball is also selling Day passes, Ferry passes and Shuttle passes.
